Are you open? YES!

We are now offering classes, open play, birthday parties, and private events. Whether you’re looking to stretch and zen out, learn some gymnastics, or celebrate a milestone, we’ve got something for everyone. Check out open play here, classes here, and birthday parties here. Do you have new health and safety protocols? YES!

We have a regular sanitizing treatments, and we use disinfecting cleaning supplies that kill COVID-19 and other viruses and bacteria. Our HVAC systems and the building as a whole are new and outfitted with the best possible filters and updated systems. Effective October 1, 2022, The Lane at Ivy City is no longer requiring face coverings to be worn indoors, due to Washington, DC and all surrounding counties being classified in the CDC’s Low Community Level. Please note that we may adjust our mask and safety guidelines based on changing CDC COVID-19 Community Levels.

Finally, we need your help to keep our staff safe and healthy as well so if you do not feel well, please stay home.

Do I need to book ahead? It depends!

We always appreciate a heads up that you’re coming (and sometimes fill up on weekends) so we recommend booking ahead to make sure you can come and play at the time that’s best for you. If we’re not full, walk-ins are welcome. If you’d like to sign up for classes, special events, or book a private event, we’d love to see you, but do need you to book in advance for those activities.

Is Membership back? YES!

We have two membership options: 1. Our 1-2 kids family membership or 2. our 3+ kids membership. Both include unlimited visits as a family, 10% off food and drinks, first dibs on special events, and exclusive events. Become a member today!

General Questions

Can I keep my shoes on? YES!

We want everyone to feel at home here - for grown-ups that usually means keeping your shoes on in public. However, if you plan to go in the ball pit, we do ask that you or your child removes their shoes first.

Do you have beer and wine? YES!

We promise not to serve the children, but sometimes a grown-up wants a drink. We offer local ciders, champagne and spirits. Stop pass our cafe and rooftop bar for more information and happy hour specials.

Will my kids be entertained? YES!

We have loads of fun things to keep them excited, engaged and off to the races so you can actually complete an adult conversation and finish your coffee - but the kids might be having so much fun that you want to join in too.

Do you have outdoor space? YES!

We have a 2,100 square foot roof deck and an 1,800 square foot patio - outdoor movie nights, pumpkin carving, BBQs, and so much more are on tap for the fall. Finally, contained outdoor space just for families!

Is the food actually good? YES!

We know what today's parents want — because we're those parents. Excellent coffee, tasty options from local vendors you already know, and made to order in-house specials that you'll come to crave. If you want something healthy, or want to indulge, we've got you and your kid(s) covered.

Is there parking? YES!

There is a gigantic parking garage directly across from the entrance to The Lane and some street parking. We offer discount 2 hour and All Day parking passes. Please visit our reception desk or cafe for more details.

Can I drop my kid(s) off? It depends.

The mission of The Lane is to create a happy space for the whole family. That said, we know sometimes what we need most is stress free time away, especially right now. If you’re looking for a playgroup for your little one to socialize for a few hours while you get things done or relax, sign up here. If you’d like a few drop-off options throughout the month, our new membership option is for you!

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm, Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 9am-8pm and Sunday from 9am-6pm.

Are Drop-ins welcome? Absolutely!

Find yourself in the neighborhood and looking for fun? Sitting at home and your kid just tagged the walls with their latest marker masterpiece? Come on in! We’d love to see you.

Do babies count? YES!

Babies are people too! If you have a sibling that is under 6 months old, they are welcome to tag along for free, otherwise babies are also required to pay when visiting for open play, are included in birthday party counts, and count as a member of your family. They're here to stay and just getting bigger.

Do I need to watch my kids? YES!

Our goal is to create a space where everyone can have fun - sometimes together (race up the climbing wall, reading nook, board games, hooray!) and sometimes in their own spaces (endless slide rides vs. slowly sipping a latte). That said, we do not offer a daycare service. If your child is old enough to play independently, that's totally cool with us as long as you remain in the building. If you have a little one that needs to be carefully watched, we need you to do exactly that. Our staff is there to make sure everyone plays safely but if you’re looking for 1:1 attention, please book a drop-off session. Keep your eyes peeled for Parent's Night Out events when exactly THAT will happen.

Events Questions

Can I bring my own food and cake? YES!

You can absolutely bring your own food and cake as long as they meet the requirements of the Department of Health. We don't want to bum you out with regulations, but we are a licensed restaurant. In short, you can't bring food you make from home, but you are welcome to bring in food from another restaurant, bakery or grocery store. Snacks and beverages will be admitted for anyone 6mo. & under.

Can I bring my own decorations? YES!

We'd be delighted to handle the whole shebang for you, but we know that sometimes kids want a ninja Halloween princess party and only you know how to fulfill that request.

Can I come to the room early to set up? No

We love your eagerness, but we cannot make the room available outside your time slot. This allows for cleaning and sanitation of each room.

Can our party stay longer than our time slot? Maybe!

We want you and your crew to have a wonderful time while you’re here, and we’re happy to work out a reservation for an extended period of time. However, all good things must come to an end, so when that timed reservation ends, we will have to wrap it up. You are welcome to stay for open play after your party ends for a additional fee of $20 per person 6mo & up.

What are the themes for the decor packages?

We've tried to cover our most popular bases: Unicorn, Outer Space, Super Hero, Safari, and Dino. If you'd like a theme you don't see here, you are welcome to talk to us to see what we can do or bring your own decor.

What is your cancellation policy?

Unexpected things happen (if we’ve learned anything, it’s this!) and we want to be as helpful as possible while ensuring we can plan ahead.

For private events, an initial non-refundable deposit of 25% is due within 2 weeks of booking. The remaining 75% is due 4 weeks out from your event. If you need to cancel within 15-30 days of the event, we will refund 50% of the event cost. We do not offer refunds for events canceled within two weeks of the planned date.

For birthday parties, the entire cost is due upfront. If you need to cancel one month (or more) in advance, we will refund 75% of the cost. If you need to cancel 15 days-30 days before your event, we will refund 50% of the cost. We do not offer refunds within 2 weeks of a birthday party.

Membership is billed monthly and there is no long-term commitment. If you need to cancel, email us and we will cancel your membership (effective at your next billing cycle). We do not offer refunds for months already billed.

Camp and class registrations are non-refundable as these efforts require significant planning, resource purchases, and staffing. If your child is no longer able to attend, you are welcome to find another child to take their place (and pay the fee to you) — but we do not offer refunds or facilitate exchanges.

Classes Questions

Are classes included in membership?

Membership is awesome, and this place is your home, but everything has its limits. Classes are open to members and non-members alike, but must be purchased separately.

Can my child do a trial class?

You know what they say: preparation is key! For our instructors, that means knowing their class roster in advance. To set up our classes and instructors for success, we aren’t offering trials at this time.

Can I leave while my child is in class?

We’d always love for you to stay and enjoy some quiet time (and maybe a drink/snack) with us, but sometimes a Target run is a must and we get that. You can drop off your child for most classes, but we ask that you be back 5 min. before class ends for pick-up.

I have a child who is not in the class. Can they come and play?

Absolutely! We’d love to have you and the whole family come and play - we do ask that you purchase open play passes for any children joining you and not attending a class.
