Member Services Representative

The Lane at Ivy City is a play space and event venue. We are seeking energetic, motivated, and fun-loving individuals to join our team. Our guest experience team members are the heart and soul of The Lane - responsible for making it a happy place for everyone who visits. We are looking for individuals excited to jump into a fast-paced, dynamic, high-energy environment. We love people who bring their own personality to deliver a unique spin on a fantastic branded experience.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team for a highly anticipated business that has received significant attention and interest from the DC community. It will be a multi-faceted role including reception check-in, play oversight, activity execution and coordination, and customer service. This person should love people (especially kids), facilitating activities, and most importantly be excited to bring fun to DC’s families.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests in a friendly, helpful and informative manner

  • Be up-to-date on and able to communicate all aspects of The Lane’s operation (activity schedule, bookings, policies, etc)

  • Check-in guests, assist in membership purchases, booking parties and events, and completing waivers

  • Ensure the safety, engagement, and fun of all children and guests present at The Lane

  • Maintain a safe, clean, happy environment consistent with The Lane’s brand standards

  • Usher all guests in navigating the space, finding activities or items as needed

  • Assist with setup and execution of all events - private and public

  • Provide superior customer service to all guests - resolve conflicts with empathy, be proactive, demonstrate kindness and care

  • Facilitate regularly scheduled activities including, but not limited to: storytime, dance parties, music hour, arts & crafts.

  • Perform other job-related responsibilities, as requested

Requirements

  • Prior experience in hospitality, retail, education or other customer-facing position

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

  • Passionate about and excited to work with children

  • Team player willing to openly communicate, learn new skills, and adapt to a quickly changing environment

Event Staff

Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with others and has strong interpersonal skills. An event staff employee will be supervised by an event manager who will assign roles such as: an event salesperson, guest greeter, inventory inspector, and other duties required by the venue.

In addition to job roles, event staff will likely be on their feet for the duration of an event and need a certain level of energy and enthusiasm to succeed.

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up necessary event space

  • Being responsible for facilitating seating organization in respect to fire code regulations and working as an usher

  • Effectively operating POS systems

  • Being assigned various tasks by the event manager

  • Facilitating the proper organization and cleanliness of venues

  • Upholding any necessary safety precautions

  • Providing high levels of customer service

  • Performing security roles

  • Welcoming guests to the venue and performing sales task

  • Helping to set up sound and lighting equipment

  • Serving food and drinks to attendees

  • Providing relevant information to event attendees

  • Checking equipment into an inventory system and inspecting for potential damage

  • Aiding in event packing after the event

Barista

We are looking for individuals excited to jump into a fast-paced, dynamic, high-energy environment. Responsibilities

  • Deliver superior customer service - greet guests with kindness and deliver food/drink with speed

  • Prepare hot & cold food and drink to order

  • Operate a POS with precision

  • Communicate expertly with cafe and staff members

  • Open, close and maintain the cafe area in a clean and orderly fashion befitting The Lane’s brand and DC DOH requirements

  • Complete kitchen prep lists in a timely manner

  • Identify food quality through taste, texture, color and odor

  • Wash, dry, and store wares

  • Control waste and spoilage

  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a fast casual restaurant, coffee shop, or other F&B environment

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Food Safety Certification

  • Available to work weekends (required) and weekdays

On-Call Bartender

Our Bartender is responsible for preparing beverages and serving beverages and/or food to guests in The Lane's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Responsibilities:

What will I be doing As a Bartender, you would be responsible for preparing beverages and serving beverages and/or food to guests at The Lane continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Greet guests and respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner Mix and garnish beverages according to recipe and portion control standards Present and serve beverages to guests Check guests for proper identification and serve alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with federal, state, local and company laws and regulations Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, making change and processing gift certificates, cards and vouchers Stock and maintain the bar to include, but not limited to, beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce Cut, store and ensure product quality of all beverage-related perishables Respond professionally to inebriated guests, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience (REQUIRED)
